Our Program
It is the philosophy of Little Explorers Preschool that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration, and discovery. Preschool children are creative and receptive. We will strive to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children who attend and expand your child’s understanding and appreciation for the world around them. Our purpose is to provide an atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth and development of your child as a whole.
Planned with the framework of philosophy and purpose, Little Explorers' curriculum includes sharing and conversation time; stories, poems, prayers, songs and finger plays; creative art activities; games and large muscle activities; cooking experiences; science and nature activities; field trips; exposure to shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. Our activities stress the importance of hands-on learning techniques that help build self-confidence and encourage children to explore the world around them in new ways, which provides children with the springboard they need for a successful transition into kindergarten.
There will be some changes for the Fall of 2015 for the First United Presbyterian Church's Little Explorers Preschool. It will be the fifth year opening our door and welcoming children to a lifelong love of learning. Although it was a tough decision because I have truly loved teaching at Little Explorers, I have notified our current parents that this will be my last year (ending June 2015) teaching at Little Explorers. It makes sense for our family for me to try to get back into public education. I've prayed about it a lot, and I truly believe that everything happens precisely when it is meant to, so I am having faith that the path that is right for our family will be shown to us. All this to say, Diane Michalczyk is taking over at Little Explorers, but she is only teaching a morning session. Because there is not an afternoon session too, all of our Preschool and PreK spots for the 2015-2016 school year are filled with current students and siblings of past students. Please contact Diane 570-470-7951 to be put on a waiting list or future list for your Little Explorer.
Because of our small number of students, we are able to provide plenty of individual attention to students with different needs and focus on the individual learning styles and personalities of our students. Parents are welcomed to be involved in every aspect of our program. I am quite excited to share the activities that I have created that combine fun and education to promote a love of learning in your child early on.
